We start a new sermon series this week, Deep Water. It comes from the story of the miracle catch of fish. I think of Simon, weary from working all night and disappointed that he came home empty handed. How often does our weariness and disappointment make it hard to drum up the energy to keep trying? In the coming weeks, I hope you’ll go back out with us, back into the words of Jesus, trusting that you will not return empty handed. Jesus wants good things for you. Just as Simon returned from the deep water with a catch beyond his imagination, I pray that we will gain from the teachings of Jesus far more than we could have anticipated.
